Grand Galet Waterfalls

Saint Joseph, Reunion

Probably one of Réunion's most beautiful and popular waterfalls, the Cascade Langevin, also known as the Cascade Grand Galet, is located in the town of the same name in the wild south of the island. Very popular with tourists and locals alike, there are plenty of things to do here, including water trekking and canyoning.
Despite being nestled in the middle of a lush natural setting, the waterfall is not difficult to reach. All you need to do is drive to the small village of Langevin, either a few kilometres past Saint-Joseph towards Saint-Philippe if you're driving from Saint-Pierre, or a few kilometres past Saint-Philippe towards Saint-Joseph if you're driving from the eastern part of Intense Island. Once you're in the village, you'll see a large, dozens-of-metres-high metal crane on the side of the road (impossible to miss!), used mainly for weighing sugar cane during the harvest.
This is where you turn off, following the sign for the Grand-Galet waterfall. Follow the road along the river and after several kilometres (be careful, it's quite steep in places!), you'll see the lookout point from the road, offering a magnificent view of the main waterfall, Grand Galet.
