Overlooked by the mysterious Bélouve forest, Salazie also boasts some superb waterfalls set amid lush greenery. Take a helicopter flight or a hike and discover the most popular of them all: the Voile de la mariée waterfall. The reputation of the Salazie waterfall is also based on its legend, that of a tragic love story set against a backdrop of wild nature. Just beyond Salazie, the Voile de la Mariée waterfall unfolds before you from the road. The best thing to do is to take the opportunity to go for a short hike and get close to the pool at the foot of the waterfalls. You can do this from the "official" viewpoint (near the "Chateau d'eau" bus stop, about 1 km after the town of Salazie). The return journey takes around 1 hours.
There is also a superb viewpoint on a small car park to the right of the road after heading towards Mare à Citrons.
